MINDFULNESS THERAPY

Through mindfulness we can train ourselves to be more aware of our thoughts, to take a step back from the constant flow of thoughts and be less controlled by them. It is increasing recognised as a very useful tool for assisting those distressed by negative emotions and thoughts.

HOW CAN MINDFULNESS HELP

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

Will help you to notice what is happening in your experience, especially when engaging in compulsive patterns of thought such as rumination or negative thinking.

RESILIENCE

Offers a way for you to stay with experiences, however unpleasant or difficult rather than pushing them away.

CHANGE IN PERSPECTIVE

Produces a change in perspective on those thoughts or experiences, enabling you to see that your thoughts are just thoughts, not facts or reality and that you need not to be driven by them.

ALLOWS A CHOICE

Allows you a choice, as a result of this new perspective, rather than be driven by compulsive reactions to experiences. Mindfulness gives you the mental space to respond differently.
